Tryout Registration is Now Open!

Dear NSC Families,

NSC Tryout Registration is now open.  Due to the uncertainty around COVID-19 and other changes things will be much different this year.  Your registration is now vital in helping us determine and communicate team assignments when/if our window opens.

To aid our planning please complete registration by April 30th at 5pm.

  • NYSA has opened NSC tryout registration now on NYSA's new website (requires setting up a new account): https://northshoresoccer.sportngin.com/register/form/796024224
  • Tryout registration fee to NYSA is $20 and non-refundable, but can be applied to player registration fees later if "physical" tryouts don't happen.
  • NYSA is waiting for guidance from Washington State Youth Soccer (WYS) about all actual dates when soccer activities can resume, this includes the possibility of new tryout formats.  NSC will follow the forthcoming guidance from WYS on this.

Thank you for your continued support of NSC!

============================================================

P.S. The following is a much longer version of the same information that NYSA sent to Sound FC recently:

============================================================

Sound FC Families;

We hope this finds you all in good health and good spirits during this
interesting and challenging time in our lives. The onset and pandemic level
outbreak of Covid-19, has created a level of angst and uncertainty in homes,
neighborhoods, and cities. Sports, both youth and professional leagues, have
been operating in a level of unknown that has become our new normal. Beginning
with the Northshore School District closures in February and March, NYSA has
tried our best to stay on top of the news and work in the best interests of our
players. This includes cancelling all activities in early March when the school
district closed for training to allow our Board of Directors an opportunity to
work out a plan on how to handle future school and/or district closings. At this
time, Governor Jay Inslee has issued a stay at home order for the state of
Washington and NYSA will follow all directives on closings and social distancing.
To ensure our compliance with the order, all NYSA activities will be suspended
through May 4th, 2020. As this is an ever changing target, the date for a
hopeful return to the field is open to change. NYSA asks that all coaches,
parents, and players help us flatten the curve by practicing appropriate social
distancing and hygiene measures, and hopefully we are all going to be healthy and
able to see our friends back on the fields soon.

While there are many uncertainties we are living with, through guidance from
Washington Youth Soccer and US Youth Soccer we do know the following:

    All league play is on hold;

    The Presidents and Championship Cups have cancelled all Regional and National
    events;

    WYS is considering options for the state Presidents and Championship Cups,
    including carefully looking at potential dates and locations;

    Dates, locations, and how tryouts will be run for select and premier players
    looking for teams to play with for the 2020-2021 seasons is currently being
    examined by WYS. As more information about this becomes available to us we
    will pass this on to our families.

With players wondering when they will be able to get back on the field and having
a chance to play, visit, and interact with their soccer family, we want t0 assure
everyone that we are preparing for a better day ahead. In preparation for the
2020-2021 season, we have some exciting news and updates to announce about our
premier program.

WYS APPROVAL OF SOUND FC

After representatives from NYSA and Sound FC met with the RCL Commission and went
through a deep review of the club and association, he found that the club meets
all current RCL standards of a premier program for both NYSA and SSCYSA. We are
very excited about this and are making our plans to move forward with a great
program.

TECHNICAL STAFF FOR 2020-2021 SEASON:

Interviews for the technical staff leadership will be held on Thursday the 16th
and an announcement will be coming in the following days of who will be leading
the club into the coming season. We have some strong candidates who are
interested in helping grow the program and meet or exceed all RCL requirements.
The first task after the hiring of the director will be bringing on and
announcing the coaching slate for the upcoming season.

TRYOUT REGISTRATION:

Washington Youth Soccer is currently in the process of determining new tryout
dates and possibly a new tryout format for the 2020-2021 season. This is all
contingent on the stay-at-home order that is currently in place for our State as
well as social distancing guidelines. With things changing on a daily basis, the
return to "normal" tryouts is still uncertain, but we are hopeful that we will be
able to host live tryouts later in May. However, our staff are working on a
back-up plan for a virtual tryout and team placement if holding in person tryouts
is not possible.

Our Sound FC family is our highest priority and we would like to assure every
player that is currently on a Sound FC team that they will have a spot on our
teams for the 2020-2021 season. With this in mind, we have opened tryout
registration for our current members and ask that players register no later than
04/30/2020. If WYS decides to forego live tryouts, the tryout registration fee
of $20 will be credited towards player registration for the 2020-2021 season. At
this time, we encourage all players to register for tryouts as soon as possible
by following this link: https://northshoresoccer.sportngin.com/register
/form/439490791#_ga=2.94409628.1219085902.1586914792-1292253578.1585876779

As our association transitions to a new website we also have a new registration
platform and all families will need to create a new account. This can be done by
going to our website and clicking Sign-In, located in the upper-right hand corner
of the screen.

Until such a time that we play again, we want to remind everyone that youth
soccer is a non-essential business. This means that any trainings or practices
being held are not sanctioned, not covered by Washington Youth Soccer insurance,
and coaches who organize official or unofficial trainings will be subject to NYSA
discipline with a minimum of a year’s suspension. Online meetings and discussion
groups may take place, as long as, they abide by our approved policy. Some
requirements include no one-on-one discussions without a parent present, no plans
for off-field contact, and all interactions must be observable and interruptible
by either a parent or another adult. Please be aware of these and other
policies, as directed by the federal SafeSport Act, on player and coach
interaction.

With the acknowledgement that we’re facing the unknown we ask for patience as we
all try to comprehend the impact of this unprecedented pandemic. Please continue
to take all advisements and instructions from local/national health agencies to
help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and hopefully we will be with our friends and
family again cheering on one another!
